Improving the BOS-process (Basic Oxygen Steelmaking) with Oxygen Valves

|   Application

In the Linz-Donawitz process, oxygen is blown in through a lance. Due to different types of steel, high-precision dosing is necessary, whereby both very high and very low flow rates may be required. The Type 72.3 rotary plug valve is predestined exactly for this purpose: It combines a high flow capacity with an outstanding rangeability, thus enabling control even at extremely low flow rates.

In the example shown under the link, a Type SM1.5 noise reduction device was used, which reduces the noise level by up to -25 dB(A), depending on the flow conditions. A special oxygen bronze alloy was used as body material.
